台新金控極力想推動彰化銀行與台新銀行合併案，不過，財政部堅持反對，財政部次長曾銘宗更曾多次公開表態，如今曾銘宗將接任金管會主委，市場關注恐讓合併之路更艱困。對此，台新金發言人林維俊29日表示，不評論政府人事佈局，但台新金的做法一定合法，並符合公司治理。
台新金在彰銀兩次常董會以席次優勢通過成立台新銀併入彰銀研究小組及成員名單，本來更規劃將以「報告案」形式，送至上周五舉行的董事會備查。由於台新金在彰銀董事會擁有5席過半席董事席次，公股加獨立董事則是4席，因此，台新金仍可望以人數優勢，在董事會上通過報告案。
不過，彰銀董事會卻突然延後，尤其曾銘宗多次表達，公股堅決反對立場之下，台新金董事長吳東亮上周親赴財政部與曾銘宗會面釋善意，只是財政部仍堅守反對立場，而吳東亮則希望給一點時間，處理財政部疑慮的公司治理等問題。
雖然台新金仍計劃在本周五將合併研究案，提報彰銀董事會備查，不過，如今傳出曾銘宗將接任掌管金融的金管會主委，是否使台新銀與彰銀合併案更添變數，尤其金管會日前也曾重罰台新銀。
對於曾銘宗將接任金管會主委，台新金財務長林維俊受訪時表示，不評論政府人事佈局，但台新金的做法一定合法，而且會符合公司治理要求。
