在這種形勢下,電信商開始與 OTT 服務商展開合作,(OTT:「over-the-top」,通常是指內容或服務建構在基礎電信服務之上的服務)電信商選擇向 OTT 服務商提供特定服務的流量,而 OTT 服務商向電信商支付相應的增值服務費用。這種合作模式目前已經被 Verizon 等在內的多家電信運營商採納。
在運營商與 OTT 競合的道路上,類似 WhatSim 這種由運營商和 OTT 服務在流量業務上的合作產品,未來或許會越來越普遍。以國內為例,或許我們更期待的,是看到Facebook或是Line也推出獨家的「電話卡」吧?
