修剪花園裡的圍籬需要花多久時間？應該是一個下午的工作量而已，但在英國的一個城堡就不只是如此了，不僅要2名工人修剪，還要加一台吊車，並且要花費一個星期才能夠修剪完成。
這到底是哪座城堡的圍籬？據英國《每日郵報》報導，這座城堡圍籬是英國科茨沃爾德貴族莊園巴瑟斯特伯爵家的半圓形紫杉樹籬笆，這些紫杉樹已經有300歲高齡，整過圍籬高121公尺，寬4.5公尺，總長137公尺。每年都要花費6000英鎊(約合新台幣278000元)來維護。
每次修剪時，2名工人要花費80個小時，剪掉新長出來約1.8公尺的新芽，剪掉的碎枝大約重1000公斤。不過，這些碎枝最後都賣給製藥公司，用來製藥。
只要到了英國科茨沃爾德，不論從城市的任何角度都一定能夠看到這座杉樹籬笆牆。對此，巴瑟斯特伯爵說，「很難知道它到底長了多少年了，但我想大概是栽於1710年」。據了解，在吊車出現以前，該籬笆牆的修剪都由一隊建築工人搭長梯修剪維護的。
