澳洲每年至少1100人未繳罰單而入獄

英國衛報報導，澳洲反對黨工黨26日公布的一項報告顯示，2010年迄今，每年至少有1,100人因為繳不出罰款而入獄，而這種情況在澳洲西部特別嚴重。澳洲西部的法律規定，被罰款人若無法透過攤還計畫或社會服務令清償罰款，則可選擇被關來勾銷罰單。

數據顯示，繳不出罰款而遭監禁的對象以澳洲原住民居多，2008年至2013年間因此入獄的原住民暴增六倍；其中原住民女性更從33人增至223人。
