食蛇龜保護區 林務局今正式公告

台灣野生動物保育，又將向前邁進一大步。即日起，在翡翠水庫保護區內違法獵捕保育類野生動物，最重可處七年半以下有期徒刑。農委會林務局今天正式公告，依據野生動物保育法第10條第3項劃定「翡翠水庫食蛇龜野生動物保護區」，這是亞洲第一個以陸生龜鱉設立的單一保護區。

農委會林務局長李桃生表示，劃定保護區除了保護外界關心的食蛇龜、柴棺龜以外，區域裡共域共生的其他野生動物包括台灣野山羊、山羌、穿山甲、麝香貓、食蟹?、翡翠樹蛙等30種保育類動物也一同保護。
