澳洲央行（RBA）周二（4日）宣布，維持利率於 2.5% 歷史低點不變，符合市場預期。

該行行長 Glenn Stevens 與委員會決議保留隔夜現金利率於 2.5%，同時在聲明中指出房價「已明顯走高」，而澳元「依然處於歷史高檔」。

從 2011 年晚期至去年 8 月大動作降息 2.25 個百分點後，在雪梨房價大漲的壓力下，澳洲央行始終不願再次施行經濟刺激。多數學者與分析師預期，今年內該行都將維持利率於歷史低點不變，以免擴大礦業趨緩而造成的產業成長落差。

Stevens 表示，「目前跡象顯示，最謹慎的作法就是維持一段時間利率穩定」，就業市場依然不振，而且失業率也持續升高。

利率決議傳出後澳幣走跌，從先前的 89.45 美元下滑至 89.27 美分。

摩根大通經濟學家 Tom Kennedy 說，「（RBA）顯然要透過今天的決議，釋出澳元匯率仍偏高的訊息」，預計接下來幾個月利率還是不會變動。
