保護海鳥棲地，日本北海道在天賣島實施流浪貓捕捉計畫。環境省表示，天賣島的自然環境不適合流浪貓生存，預計在2到3年內讓島上不見野貓蹤影。

羽幌自然保護事務所指出，天賣島上除有瀕危物種崖海鴉外，還有黑尾鷗、角嘴海雀等8種約100萬隻海鳥棲息。

但約從20年前開始，原為寵物貓的流浪貓開始增加，評估約有200到300隻，並以捕食黑尾鷗、角嘴海雀等海鳥維生。

除流浪貓外，也很容易遭受烏鴉襲擊的黑尾鷗現今數量大減為20年前的10%，僅存1400隻；在瀕危物種扁嘴海雀的棲息地也同樣發現野貓存在。

為讓野貓離開島上並讓民眾認養，日本官方從10月起展開捕捉計畫，透過在海鳥繁殖地設置箱型陷阱，目前已成功捉到30隻野貓，其中15隻已進行結紮且親人度高的野貓，將在16日於札幌開放免費認養，希望為牠們找到幸福的家。(中央社)
